Halloween Watermarble Nails

Okay, I’ll admit it. I consider these to be a bit of a nail fail. Especially the index finger…. *sigh* I hate when I have an awesome idea that I’ve envisioned in my head and then when I try it for real it is a mess. 

But anyway, I did this design as a fun alternative to all the drip nails, zombie nails, and cute Halloween characters that I’ve been seeing a lot. I really wanted to do those manis because I love them, but I also wanted to try something a little different. I decided to do a white to orange gradient with a black and clear watermarble over it.

I had never tried a watermarble with top coat, and it was a little tricky. The top coat and the black mixed sometimes or the top coat wouldn’t spread inside the black… But I ended up working around it. 

As for the pattern I did for the marble, I didn’t do the typical flower-y watermarble, but instead I made it really abstract. I wanted it to have a lot of little lines, almost like a spiderweb. My index finger looks more like a gross, ripped cobweb but whatever! Haha 🙂

For the gradient, I used Salon Perfect “Sugar Cube” (white) as a base, then painted the white and Salon Perfect “Traffic Cone” onto a makeup sponge. 

I managed to get a quick picture of my gradient before I watermarbled over it. The orange was so bright and my phone camera was going crazy trying to capture it!

After I finished sponging on the colors to get my gradient the way I wanted it, I used Salon Perfect “Oil Slick” and their Crystal Clear top coat to watermarble. Then I finished with another layer of top coat to seal everything in!
