China Glaze x Sesame Street 50th Anniversary Collection | Holiday 2019 | Swatches and Review

Hi everyone!

I’m back with one of my favorite series – swatches and reviews! This time, it’s for the new China Glaze x Sesame Street 50th Anniversary Collection. It’s perfect for the holidays and it celebrates Sesame Street’s 50 years of being on television!

There are 12 polishes in this collection and they are all packed with glitter and sparkle. Not to mention they all have super cute limited edition bottle caps (featuring Cookie Monster, Oscar, and Big Bird).

This is a photo-heavy post and there are a lot of swatches to get into, so let’s dive right in!

First up is Me Ate Santa’s Cookies”. Here I’m wearing 2 coats with top coat. This polish is a metallic medium blue, kind of with a chrome effect. This is such a beautiful color (and perfectly named, considering how this color is clearly honoring Cookie Monster!).

The one thing to keep in mind is that since this is a metallic/chrome polish, it can easily show brush strokes. Try to limit the number of times you touch the brush to your nail since that will only make the chrome effect messed up. On my index finger, I only did 3 strokes and I think you can definitely tell a difference! Almost no imperfections. Overall, a super pretty and fun shade!

Now we have “#ThisIsMyStreet”, a champagne holographic glitter polish in a clear base. Here I’m wearing 2 coats, although I think this would be better applied with a sponge to make the glitter completely opaque. This is actually kind of hard to tell what color the glitters are because of the super strong holo effect. I ended up catching a ton of purple and champagne tones in the glitter. I would love this for glitter gradients, opaque, or used as a topper! So stunning and sparkly.

Next is “Giggling All The Way”, a shimmering peachy pink metallic shade with teeny tiny holographic glitters. I’m wearing 2 coats with top coat. Wow! I don’t have any polishes like this but it’s so pretty. Pinks aren’t my favorite but I love the added glitter in here and this is such a pretty shade. I actually think this color would be great in the summer, even though it’s from a holiday collection!

Then we have “Gift Fur You”, a magenta glitter polish with a few different sizes of glitter. There are some small hex glitters and then very tiny microglitter. This has pretty full coverage in 2 coats, and I’m wearing top coat to help smooth out the glitter. But again, feel free to just use a sponge to make the glitter fully opaque and pretty smooth in 1 coat. This is a gorgeous jewel tone that will be unexpected yet eye-catching for any holiday party! Beautiful color and I can’t wait to wear it.

Now here’s “On the Nice List”, a true holiday red glitter polish. There are small red bar glitters and super tiny microglitter in this clear-ish/reddish base. I applied 3-ish coats but this would be better applied with a sponge to make it opaque. Either way, this one is a fun twist due to the bar glitter and if you’re into reds, you might want to grab this one for the holidays!

Next is “Fa-La-Ah-Ah-Ahhh!”. I’m wearing 2 coats with top coat. This polish is gorgeous! It’s an orchid purple shade with a strong gold shimmer. I think I maybe should have done a third coat, but I think you can get away with 2 if you did slightly thicker coats like me. Again, this is a polish color that I wouldn’t expect for the holiday season but I really love that about it. Plus, I think this will be flattering on so many skin tones!

The we have “Cele-Bert”, a yellow green glitter polish, very similar to the formulation of Gift Fur You. I’m wearing 2 coats with top coat. This isn’t necessarily a color I would reach for, but it’s another polish that I can see being used as a glitter gradient or topper for a Christmas mani! And I know it’s named after Bert, but I really think this is much more of an Oscar the Grouch color, haha. I can’t be the only one!

Here’s “A Grouchy New Year”. I’m wearing 2 coats with a generous layer of top coat to smooth out the glitter. Again, this one would probably apply a lot easier and smoother with a sponge. This one is full of green glitters and holographic gold hex glitters. It’s a lot of fun, very sparkly and great for the holidays!

Next up is “Brought to You By…”, an emerald green shimmer with teeny tiny flecks if glitter. I’m wearing 2 coats with top coat. This is one of my favorites for sure!! Absolutely beautiful color and this went on smoothly and easily. But it shouldn’t be any surprise I love it so much since I always love blue-greens 🙂 This one is definitely my type of holiday shade. I love jewel tones and this one just screams Christmas to me. Obsessed!

Then we have “50 Shimmering Years”, a gorgeous rose gold glitter polish. I’m wearing 2 coats with top coat, but in the future I’d probably sponge it on for one easy coat. I absolutely love this one as well! In addition to the rosy pink microglitter, there are slightly larger holographic glitters that add even more sparkle to this polish. And you guys probably know by now how much I love rose gold 🙂 I’d definitely recommend this one!

This one is “T is for Tinsel”, an icy silver blue glitter polish. I’m wearing 2 coats with top coat, but it’s another one you can definitely sponge on. This one is a great staple silver polish! I always need to have a go-to for silver glitter but sometimes the silver can look dull and dark. This one is super bright and sparkly, probably because of the icy blue undertones! And it is aptly named because it totally reminds me of tinsel.

And last but not least is “Since 1969”, a gunmetal gray glitter polish with a gray jelly base. I’m wearing 2 coats with top coat. If you can’t give up your dark nail colors but you still want something fun and sparkly for the holidays, this is the one for you! There’s plenty of glitter in this polish and it applied easily in 2 coats.

And that’s all the swatches! Phew.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: China Glaze is totally nailing it lately with unique, indie-like collections lately that have one-of-a-kind polishes. There are so many great creations in their recent collections and China Glaze is so affordable and easily accessible!

These polishes are available at Ulta, Sally Beauty, and I also spotted them at my local CVS.

I hope you all found this swatch and review helpful! As always, thank you for reading 🙂
