Hi everyone! … or should I say holo everyone….?
I know I’m a little behind on this… But I finally got around to swatching and reviewing the new Holo Taco top coats from Simply Nailogical!
I purchased the Launch Collection (currently sold out, but you can purchase all the polishes except the flakie holo taco individually). The set comes with 3 holo tacos, a black creme nail polish, and a royal blue creme nail polish. All of these are vegan, cruelty free, and made in the U.S.A.!
The black polish is called “One-Coat Black” and I can confirm it absolutely lives up to its name! I swatched all the holo tacos over this one because I thought they would show up best over it, but the royal blue creme called “Royal-Tea Blue” is also super pretty and all of the holo tacos look great over it.
Want to see me swatch all of these polishes live?? Check out my YouTube video HERE or at the end of this blog post to see the sparkly, holo goodness in action!!
Now, let’s get into the swatch photos.
First up is the Linear Holo Taco. Shown in the swatch photos here is one coat over black. I LOVE this one!! So much holo coverage in just the one coat. I can totally see myself wearing this over any nail polish color. It dried quickly, went on smoothly, and I really have no complaints!
You could apply more than one coat of the holo taco, but I was pretty happy with how it looked after just one.
Next up is the Flakie Holo Taco. I love flakies but always found it frustrating when they had such big flakes that it left my nail feeling bumpy unless I applied a few layers of top coat. This one is not the case at all! The flakes are the perfect size. Just big enough to show off that holo but not too big that my nail feels chunky.
Just to try it out, I decided to apply 2 coats of the Flakie Holo Taco for these swatches. The flakes built up really nicely and I think it looks so pretty! So you can definitely make these more intense with more than one coat.
Unfortunately the flakie one is sold out at the moment, but once it’s back in stock, definitely pick this one up if you love flakie polishes!
And last but not least is the Scattered Holo Taco. I think this one ended up being more of a subtle holo look and really lets the base color show through. My favorite part of this top coat is how the scattered holo glitters make this look like a galaxy!! I bet this would look amazing over some galaxy nail art…
You can definitely layer up and do more than one coat on this one, but here I’m wearing one coat over the black. The holo would definitely get even more intense after 2-3 coats!
Cristine did an amazing job developing these nail polishes and I am so excited to try out the products she brings out next!! Yay for supporting fellow nail bloggers, content creators, and female entrepreneurs. 🙂 Congratulations, Cristine!!
